STATE COLLEGE, PA-September 9: Penn State University professor John Liechty at the University Park Business School. Penn State University Professor John Liechty was a leader in the formation of a new federal agency that effectively will try to collect and analyze every scrap of data produced by Wall Street, regulators, and economists. For example, the system, if it succeeds, could have the ability to collect from the world‚s biggest banks derivatives and lending exposures to hedge funds or swap counter-parties. Some have called it a Manhattan Project for Wall Street. Others call it the CIA of finance.(Jeff Swensen for The Wall Street Journal)
